My cat shredded the corner of my couch, down to the metal. Instead of buying a new couch I thought I would try this first.
Clean: rake the area with the hair remover and trim any loose threads.
Cover: cut the carpet to size, peel the backing, press it on and twist a pin into each corner.
Shield: peel the clear sheet, smooth it over the next spot they like and pin the corners if it needs it.
The carpet is 15.8 x 39.4 inches and cuts with household scissors, so one piece can cover several spots. Each clear sheet is 18 x 12 inches and bends around arms and edges.

This is perfect for my new couch. It is the same color as my couch and my cat scratches on it and it’s actually a scratcher for her and my couch is still protected.
My couch was badly dammaged and this product is hiding it very well. My cat is still scratching the corners, but it is not dammaging the material. The pads are holding up well with the push pins.
Both my cats were destroying the corners of my new couch and this has saved it. It's very sturdy and up to the level of scratching my cats do. The only down side is that the color isn't an exact match but honestly it's not that bad.

Yes, when you use the pins. The adhesive holds it in place and the twist pins lock the corners, because cats pull on it every day. Clean the spot and trim loose threads first.
Those are the two toughest surfaces. Plenty of customers use it on leather, but the adhesive grips less on velvet, bouclé and slick leather, and pins can't go into solid frames. Try a small corner first.
